Grant news: Digital Twin for Stroke Care

The London Digital Twin Research Centre have been awarded an ISPF networking grant by the Academy of Medical Sciences. Our new project, “Strengthening Global Partnerships: Digital Twinning for Stroke Care in Vietnam and Indonesia,” will bring together experts from the UK, Vietnam, and Indonesia. This networking initiative is a step forward in creating international collaborations for the development of digital twin technology in stroke care, setting the stage for future expansive research projects in this innovative field.

The Academy of Medical Sciences in collaboration with the British Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society is administering the Networking Grants funded through the International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF). This will allow UK-based researchers and innovators to collaborate with international partners on multidisciplinary projects.

Final Project Workshop “Enhancing Resilience for Society with Digital Technologies: Case Studies of Urban Farming and Healthcare””

On 12th March 2024, the project team from Van Lang University (Vietnam), together with partners Middlesex University (UK) and Universitas Gajah Mada (Indonesia), organised the final workshop “Enhancing Resilience for Society with Digital Technologies: Case Studies of Urban Farming and Healthcare” in Campus 3 in Ho Chi Minh City. This event marks the conclusion of two ambitious Going Global Partnerships projects, funded by the British Council, that have fostered innovative collaborations between the United Kingdom, Vietnam, and Indonesia. There were 80+ participants, including 10 media outlets and many other stakeholders attending the event. The project teams summarised the key outcomes and impacts from the project. Project 1 (Vietnam) focuses on urban resilience in agriculture through IoT based solutions in vertical farming while Project 2 (Indonesia)  developed Digital Twin solution to support healthcare resilience in Indonesia.

Project completion: Urban Resilience in Agriculture Through Highly Automated Vertical Farming

The British Council project ‘Urban Resilience in Agriculture Through Highly Automated Vertical Farming‘ was concluded on 12th March 2024 at the final workshop in Ho Chi Minh City. What did we achieve in this project? IoT for urban agriculture”? Can Cloud-based IoT solutions be sustainable, aligning with UN’s SDGs? How about the awareness and study the environmental and economic impacts? DT healthcare resilience project: Final activities

Project team members from UGM and LDTRC, Lutfan Lazuardi, Novi Zain Alfajri, Hanifah Wulandari, and Huan X Nguyen, paid visits to the Stroke Centre at Bach Mai Hospital (Hanoi) and Department of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases at VNU University of Medicine and Pharmacy (VNU-UMP). Dr Mai Duy Ton, Director of the Stroke Centre and Prof Le Ngoc Thanh, rector of the VNU-UMP, presented the hospital facilities and hold discussions on the common research topics for collaborations.

In addition, Prof Huan Nguyen and Dr Souvik Barat (TCS India) then presented the research outcomes from the project to the hybrid audience at VNU – International School in Hanoi, within the workshop “Digital Twin technology for Healthcare: Insights and Perspectives,” where leading researchers from VNU-IS, Dr. Lê Duy Tiến, Dr. Chu Đình Tới and Dr. Lê Đức Thịnh, hold productive discussions on various pressing healthcare issues and challenges in Vietnam with the project team.

Digital Twin Talk on CBC Radio 1 “Spark with Nora Young”

Digital twin technology is growing rapidly across multiple industries. From race cars to the human heart to the entire country of Canada, a look at how these virtual replicas use real-time data to model and predict the future.

‘Spark with Nora Young’ from CBC Radio 1 in Canada is a radio programme that discusses stimulating ideas of digital technologies for real-life applications. The episode “Predicting problems before they happen” on digital twin technology, aired on the 8th March 2024, features Dr Michael Grieves (who originated the digital twin idea for manufacturing), Dr Caroline Roney (cardiac digital twin) and Ms Julie Ivanoff (digital twin of Canada), and Prof Huan Nguyen (how Formula 1 is leading digital twin technology).

Invited Lecture at ECR 2024 “Digital Twin for Healthcare”

Together with colleagues Prof. Valeria Panebianco, Dr. Ilenia Rapisarda (from Italy) and Dr Andrew Vickers (from USA), Prof. Huan Nguyen delivered a lecture and discussed if, when and how radiology will meet digital twin in the panel “The Radiologist of the Future: Connecting the Digital Twins and the Human Being” at the European Congress of Radiology 2024 in Vienna, Austria, the most prominent event for radiology in Europe, attracting 18,000+ radiology professionals and researchers around the world.
